12May2016

From noon until 1pm

At Nature Learning Center

Dr. Matt Smith from UNH Organic Dairy will discuss their composting heating system and other innovative projects underway.  The composting process can extract energy using backyard methods to commercial-scale systems like the one used at UNH. The primary use for the system is to heat winter high tunnels or greenhouses; however, systems also have been designed for forestry industry in which wood chips have been composted to produce heat for hot water heating. Economics and greenhouse gas mitigation potential also will be discussed.

Tin Mountain’s monthly EcoForum Series is held the second Thursday of the month and is FREE and open to the public. Enjoy free pizza from series sponsor The Flatbread Company, and coffee from Frontside Grind.
