Birding in the Brownfield Bog

Sat, May 3, 10, 17, and 31, 7 AM Meet at in Brownfield Join bird experts on a weekly bird walk to the Brownfield Bog to view the rich diversity of bird life making its way north to rest or nest. Bring binoculars or borrow ours, rubber boots, and a snack. Note: no program May 24; we will be heading to Pondicherry instead!

Date: TBA Meet at Diana’s Bath Hepatica, Spring Beauties, Dutchmen Britches, Violets, and Trillium abound at Humphrey’s Ledge. Join us for this wildflower walk in search of the early spring wildflowers. Date will be determined according to conditions. Call and register to be on the call/email list. We’ll let people know as the date approaches. Sturdy shoes a must. Conditions are moderately difficult.

Adult Nature Course: NH Fish – Native, Introduced and Invasive Species

Thurs, April 24, 6–8PM and Sat, April 26, 9AM – 12PM Nature Learning Center $10 members, $15 non-members/session, $15/members or $25/non-members for both days There is no better way to learn about the natural history of New Hampshire’s fish than from Clay Groves; the man who made it his mission to catch and eat every kind of fish in New Hampshire! During the evening portion of this course, Clay will go over the basics of identifying 48 different species of fish. His talk will also include which of the 48 species are native, non-native, or categorized as invasive, and practices to in order to ensure sustainable fishing. On Saturday, join Clay as he leads a trip down to Chase pond in the Rockwell Sanctuary, to sample the minnows and other fish living within the beaver pond. EcoForum: Conway Recycles

EcoForum: Conway Recycles Public Work Director, Paul DegliAngeli Thur, April 10, Noon-1PM Nature Learning Center When you are unloading an armful of trash, it can be a challenge to remember just what can be recycled and what cannot. Most plastic products can be recycled with the right symbol, but can plastic shopping bags? Aluminum cans should be recycled but should aluminum foil? Recycling in Conway is mandatory, so if you use the Conway Transfer Station, make sure you know the regulations of Conway’s Recycling program. Paul DegliAngeli, Public Works Director, will discuss Conway’s ongoing efforts to recycle and extend the life of our landfills. Big Night Field Preparation – Getting to know our Amphibian Friends

Sarah Frankel Thursday, March 20, 7 PM Nature Learning Center, Albany On the first rainy night in April with temperatures just barely over 40°F, Big Night takes place when many amphibians travel from their forest habitat to their vernal pool breeding grounds. Bring your entire family on Thursday, March 20 and learn how to safely assist amphibians on their Big Night migration. This family event will include amphibian educational activities and games as well as an introduction to amphibian calls. Tin Mountain First Season Dinner and Benefit Auction

Sat, March 15, 5 PM Fryeburg Academy Think Spring! The Board of Trustees and staff of Tin Mountain invite you to attend Tin Mountain Conservation Center’s 27th Annual First Season Benefit Dinner/Auction on Saturday, March 15, at the Fryeburg Academy Ada Cram Wadsworth Arena, a location offering an exceptional setting with a large gathering space and display area for showcasing hundreds of auction items, great music performers, and an excellent dining experience. Tin Mountain’s First Season Festival Dinner & Auction is the premier auction in the greater Mount Washington Valley and one of the finest social gatherings of the season. Last year, attendance broke all previous records with over 420 people attending! The First Season Benefit Dinner & Auction provides critical support for Tin Mountain’s environmental education programs offered to area children and adults. In order to collect consistent data, we need the help of citizen scientists like you!
