David Govatski, who fought fires with the National Forest Service will discuss the role of forest fires in the ecosystem, how plant and wildlife communities are affected, prescribed burning, fire prevention and detection, fire weather, and more complex issues such as adequate funding at the national level to manage forest fires under a changing climate. He will look at the history of fires in the White Mountain National Forest including the Lucy Brook Fire, the Covered Bridge Fire, and the Table Mountain Fire.
