While we are still sad that we will not be physically having Tin Mountain Camp this year we are very pleased to announce that we’ve got TWO great ways to enjoy summer and get a bit of the Tin Mountain Summer Camp experience you have come to know and love! Even if we can’t be together, let’s keep the Science, Adventure, and FUN going this summer!
Tin Mountain Summer Camp Challenge!
Starting June 29, every Monday morning for six weeks Tin Mountain will email you a Camp Challenge video detailing the theme and activities to be completed by the end of the week. Each week’s Camp Challenge will also include a personalized TMCC “Camp-in-a-Box” container that will include all of the materials, camp items, and nature tools you’ll need to complete the week’s challenge. Camp-in-a-Box materials will be available for pickup at the Nature Learning Center in Albany and/or the Field Station in Jackson from 9am to 4pm beginning each Monday morning. Anyone who completes 5 out of the 6 Camp Challenges will receive a classic TMCC Summer Camp Shirt!
We’ll search for insects both in and out of the water. We’ll make our very own S’Mores in our very own solar oven. We’ll search high and low (mostly low) for wacky worms…And much much more! All your Tin Mountain Summer Camp favorites (except the game camouflage. That just wouldn’t be the same remotely).
Families can register by calling the TMCC office at 603-447-6991. The cost for the entire six week program is $50.00. (Scholarship money is available) Please don’t forget to indicate your weekly pickup preference location for Camp-in-a-Box materials: either Conway/Albany or Jackson. Supplies are limited. Sign up now!
TMCC’s Summer Camp Challenge has been specifically designed for the young or the young at heart. (Geared towards 5-7 year olds with parents’ help; 8-10 year olds (mostly) independently, but who wouldn’t want to participate?!)
Family Fun Days at Tin Mountain
Tuesdays June 30th & July 28th
Bring the family to Tin Mountain Conservation Center to experience our fields, forests, and pond. Each family (or families that prearrange to come together) will sign up for a 9 or 11am start time and will travel between stations along the trail with a Tin Mountain staff member. We’ll use nets to catch, identify, and learn about insects, amphibians, stream macro-invertebrates, and much more. Each week will have a different theme.
June 30: Curious Critter Safari
July 7: Fantastic Flower and Incredible Insect Explorations
July 14: Rockin’ Reptiles and Amphibians
July 21: High Flying Birds
July 28: Down and DIRTY, All about Soil
Make a day of it and bring a picnic lunch
