“Forests for the People” is the title of a new book that David co-authored with Chris Johnson and was recently published by Island Press. The presentation will look at the creation of the Eastern National Forests a century ago and the challenges that were faced and met then such as widespread forest fires, overharvesting of forests and damage to watersheds. Today’s challenges include climate change, invasive species, motorized recreation, Wilderness, endangered species and resource extraction from the National Forests.
