Project KITE (Kids in the Environment) is a multi-disciplinary program for grades K-8. It was developed to support the schools’ curriculum using hands-on activities and demonstrations. Working closely with the classroom teacher, Tin Mountain teacher/naturalists provide three presentations and a day-long field trip focused on a topic within the natural sciences.

All topics can be adapted to the applicable grade level and aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards.

Grade 4            Forests of Maine/New Hampshire: Historical Overview

Grade 5            Alpine Ecology of the White Mountains

Grade 6            The Saco River: From the Mountains to the Sea

Grade 7            Watersheds

Grade 8            Forest of Maine/New Hampshire
