If you like Shiitake mushrooms, then why not learn the method of cultivating them on oak logs. Tin Mountain Conservation Center Executive Director Michael Cline will demonstrate the technique of inoculating oak logs with fungal spawn to produce your own delicious mushrooms. If time permits, participants will be able to inoculate their own oak logs to get a taste for the inoculation process and ultimately the mushroom.

The Shiitake mushroom workshop will be on Tuesday, April 13th from 6-8 PM at the Tin Mountain Conservation Center on Bald Hill Road in Albany. For more information on this and upcoming programs, classes, and events at Tin Mountain Conservation Center, contact Nora at 447-6991 or visit www.tinmountain.org. A material fee of $5 for members and $10 for non-members applies.

This Community Nature Program is funded in part by L.L. Bean and is jointly presented with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) providing assistance to local landowners from its office in Conway, NH.
