28Oct2021

From 7pm until 8pm

Most birders look for birds in trees versus looking for trees that are attractive to birds. This presentation will present a different approach to birding. We will learn how to identify local trees that provide food and habitat for birds. The food could consist of fruit, nuts, seeds, sap, or even insects that a particular tree hosts. Being able to identify trees also helps when you are pointing out a particular tree to someone. We will look at 16 tree species, 8 conifers and 8 deciduous trees that make up 95% of our local trees. An optional field program on 10/30 will allow participants to put these new ID skill into practice.
